September 2005: Oxford Economic published a report supported by the UK Film Council and Pinewood Shepperton plc which provided a comprehensive evaluation of the economic contribution of the UK film industry. The study's aim was to inform the government consultation on the fiscal support regime for the UK film industry, The Reform of Film Tax Incentives: Promoting the sustainable production of culturally British films, published in July 2005. Undertaken by Cambridge Econometrics and Optima, the study assessed the size and analysed the economic impact of the screen industries in the UK, separated out by nation and region, focussing on the economic multipliers of the various screen industries.
