January 2010: Film is at the heart of the UK's creative economy moreover an enterprising and competitive UK film industry helps promote the widest possible enjoyment of cinema throughout the nations and regions of the UK and raises the profile of the UK and UK culture across the world. The UK Film Council have written some advice for smaller and medium sized businesses looking for ways to obtain financial support for their long term growth and development.
Business Simplification
September 2007: Many film companies, particularly those that are small or medium sized enterprises, could benefit from improved public sector support. The Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform ("BERR") recently asked how its support for businesses in the UK could be simplified. In response the UK Film Council urged BERR to ensure that any reforms address the specific needs of SMEs in the Film and related creative industries.

October 2009: To help inform public policy and company planning this study analyses the financial results of the distribution, production and sales companies in the UK that produced and distributed the most successful UK films in the years 2006-2008.
